Before I show you the work done over the last three weeks, I just want to say how much I appreciate the comments you leave. Of course I get warm fuzzies when you tell me how you like what I do, but perhaps even more I appreciate the comments you leave about what you see in my work, what they remind you of, how they make you feel. That there is something in my stitching that you respond is a good feeling.
I am proud to be part of such a warm and supportive community.
So, to this time….
….another postcard. The torn up work was a watercolour tree. I tried to make the pieces more horizontal, but somehow it still has quite strong verticals!
I am working on the cross stitching, but seem to have stalled over the last week or so. I think it needs some colours that I don’t have in my thread stash. Of course, that could just be an excuse to buy some more but now that shops are open and our restrictions have eased I feel the yarns and threads are calling to me!

It’s always very interesting, seeing your needle crafts Anne, and the way you’re combining paper with fabric & threads for these postcard pièces. I’m actually imagining coral this time around.

I saw feet walking! I think I would have preferred to be prompted to pour a G&T but clearly my brain had other ideas!

That made me laugh! Walking feet makes me think of tracks, foot prints and other marks we leave behind.

I saw footprints in the sand along a beach – and now I am going to add a G and T to that thought as well!

Sit on a rock, watch the waves come and go, look at the footprints, all with a G&T in your hand!

Glad to read your restrictions are being lifted/relaxed. Ours are being increased 😦 I’ll need Gin and Tonic first and then I’ll take another look and let you know what I see then, lol ….I like the color palette of this the way it is 🙂

I think you are right, AJ. It does need more horizontal blue….and wouldn’t you know it, it is a thread colour I don’t have. Time to go shopping!

Beautiful work as always Anne, I love the way you incorporate paper, it makes me think of a map with all the lines showing hills and rivers. Enjoy your easing of restrictions, we are still living with quite a lot of them but in Scotland lucky to not be in a full lock down although perhaps that will come, it’s definitely making me appreciate the things I enjoy more and live in the moment, no point planning too far in advance that’s for sure. Keep safe Anne xx

I love maps, so thank you for this idea. (I might include some actual maps in my collage work.)
I hope you don’t need to go into stricter lockdown, and that your case numbers go down. Living in the moment is the way to go. It has also made me appreciate the simple things back in our ‘normal’ life.

I love the paper and threads together — it makes me think of springtime and blossoms blown by the wind. But I’d sure like a G&T. 🙂

We have had a good string of double donuts! I hope that SA are able to get things under control. It still amazes me how quickly this virus spreads.

Yes! Every day with no new cases is like an early xmas present. And yes, I hope SA get it under control asap as well. Not sure if this is true but someone mentioned that the hotel employee who started the spread never went into any of the rooms. Which only leaves surfaces. Could they have picked the virus up from a cup? a plate? a dirty towel?
This is such a sneaky virus, I wouldn’t put anything past it. 😦

You should definitely use any excuse to go fun some new yarns – how fun! Your piece makes me think of cactus and a North American southwestern desert scene. Oh we leave positive comments because your work is so original, creative and wonderful 🙂

Oh my thoughts are nothing land bound but to me I see a bottom of the ocean. The beautiful corals and the fabric looks like shells. I would love to see some wee fish appear among the flowing sea weed lol. x

I love that Tierney, in the comment above you sees a desert environment and you see corals! It reminds me that we all see things differently. I have added some vibrant blue stitches since the photo, which might strengthen the underwater feel for you.

You asked for it…this makes me think of slices of dried mango. Then again, I am craving some tropical fruit, so maybe that’s influencing my vision 😊

My brain has been so fried lately that I’m late getting around to the SAL bloggers. I’m happy to just be presented with pretty colors and pictures to look at, no thinking involved. We’ve gone into lockdown here again; glad your restrictions have eased up. I’ve been adding to my thread stash quite a bit lately – as I’ve become more involved with the little book project and other hand work.
