It not all about the sketchbook

You would be forgiven for thinking that all I have been doing lately has been swanning about with my sketchbook. But no, I have been busy with other art works, including these gum leaves and nuts that I painted for a friend. She wanted them as a present for her mum. I love the curves and folds of dried gum leaves. The colours too are more interesting than green ones.

I have painted gum leaves before, but not with gum nuts. It was nice to have the extra challenge. The leaves below are for sale in my Etsy shop.

By the way, don’t forget my offer to make you a little sketchbook of your own. A couple have already winged their way to different parts of the world. 🙂

I will send you a proper thank you, but I wanted to let you know my little sketch book arrived and is currently sitting on my desk in all its glory. I’ve been showing it to everyone I see. Your talents amaze me. What a treat to have some of your work, with accompanying blank pages (gulp) of my own.

I think I’ll bring it with me to DC in April. Then I can show it off in person to several of our fellow bloggers, and hopefully find my own inspiration to add to the pages. You are a delight. xoxoxoxo

Ooh, I am so pleased that it arrived! You will find lots of inspiration to use it. The best advice I can give is “It is only paper!” 🙂 Then you will have your own little portable art gallery! XOXOXO

I bet that if you decide to show anyone what you do they will be delighted and proud of what you have done. I hope you can conquer that inner critic, because whatever marks you make will be special for you. ☺️ And scribble all over my work if you want to!!

Scribbling all over your work is NEVER going to happen. It sits with me on my desk and I marvel every time my eyes rest there. You’re talents are extraordinary, and of course your subjects, near and dear to my heart. I recently framed my father’s landscaping design sketches. You two would have been kindred spirits.

I love drawing rocks! They are great colours, and you don’t have to be precise with the drawing. There will be a rock somewhere in the world that looks like the one you have drawn! 🙂
